I understand and appreciate your feedback regarding the behaviors and attitude Aiden had prior to being placed at Josiah White's. I am concerned however, that you feel it would be a waste of time visiting him when you are able to. You will have to participate in family therapy which could be beneficial to your relationship with Aiden and work on the things you mentioned in your previous email. Additionally, Aiden is working on these things through his treatment program now. He recognizes the need for treatment and appears invested in wanting to make a positive change. He has made 0 attempted to even speak to me about the things that transpired here before being detained. He was doing and dealing drugs out of house, even left narcotics out on the window sill where his 1 yr old, my 1 yr old, 2 yr old and 5yr old could get them. He was not respecting house rules or curfew, punched holes in walls, stabbed holes in walls, tried to break my front door off the house and couldn't speak to me in a respectful manner for months. He spit on me, shoved me, treated his siblings abusively anytime I enforced rules. I have other children's safety and well being to think of. He had all resources in front of him and chose not to take them while on probation, instead he did all of the above and more. So no, I dont intend for him to come back home, which I told Shella when we had our family meeting. I also informed Shella that I would need virtual therapy appointments and she said that could be arranged. I have heard nothing for these services. I have pretty much been in the dark since hes been there. Cayla,Thank you for sharing your perspective. I appreciate your honesty, and I don't want you to feel like your concerns are being dismissed. From what you've described, it is understandable why you have concerns for both your safety and the safety of your other children. Those are significant issues, and I recognize they did not develop overnight.My comments were not intended to minimize what occurred before Aiden entered treatment or to suggest that trust should simply be restored because he is currently doing well in placement. Rebuilding trust takes time and consistent actions, not words alone.Since Aiden has been in our care, I have observed a young man who appears invested in his recovery and who identifies his son as one of his primary motivations for maintaining sobriety. That does not erase what happened before placement, nor does it guarantee future success. It is simply my clinical observation based on the time I have worked with him.I also want to be transparent that I do see areas where Aiden continues to struggle. He can lose his temper fairly easily at times, and emotional regulation is one of the treatment areas we are actively addressing. To his credit, he has acknowledged that this is a problem and recognizes that learning to manage his anger and emotions more appropriately is necessary if he wants to be successful after discharge. That insight alone is not enough, but it is an important first step. Now the work is helping him consistently put those skills into practice.Regarding family therapy, I am waiting for his therapist to determine when Aiden is clinically ready before scheduling those sessions.My role is not to decide where Aiden should live upon discharge. My responsibility is to help provide him with the opportunity to address the behaviors that led to his placement, develop healthier coping skills, and work toward accountability. Family therapy is an important part of that process because it provides a safe, structured environment to discuss the difficult issues you've raised with the guidance of a therapist.Whether reunification ultimately becomes the plan or another permanency option is pursued, I believe those conversations are worth having. They can help everyone better understand one another's perspectives, establish healthy boundaries, and determine what is in the best interest of everyone involved.Here soon there needs to be a zoom meeting with the three of us and also with Aiden. Thank you. It is not that I am washing my hands of him by any means, but while on probation I participated to the full extent in all of his treatments and was still treated as previously stated. He has some work to put in to regain some of that. At the end of the day he is my son too and I of course want him to succeed, I just firmly belive he needs to do some work on his end to repair some things. I genuinely dont know whats with the calls. The day I dropped off aidens birth certificate, I expressed to her that Aiden wasn't speaking to me, so I'm not sure if hes telling you hes calling me and not or if hes calling wrong numbers (which would be weird I've had the same number his whole life). I'm not sure what his options are, I was under the assumption that after Josiah Whites he was doing 6months in transitional housing and we'd be given options when we get to that point. He will be 18, so my guess would be that he will want to go back to work and get an apartment for him and his son, but that's just a guess. May I suggest that we table this discussion until early next week and schedule a Zoom meeting with everyone? I think it would be much more productive to have a conversation where everyone has the opportunity to share their perspective and ask questions in real time rather than continuing the discussion through email.My schedule is fairly full for the rest of this week. Who approved calls with Emilia? Because I sure didn't and his dad doesn't have rights to do so. She is now an adult and he is a child. I have say on whether or not he has regular contact with her. Considering his original arrest and his placement at safe station were results of their discord in their relationship, he should not be calling her. If he wants updates on his son, I will get them for him. He has a lot to work on with the distrust and disrespect in our relationship that he should be focusing on, not chasing tail, because that's exactly what it is. They were broken up for months until the day before he got arrested. Until his dad signs trade in papers for my truck I cannot visit. It's dumping oil and antifreeze and I cannot afford the fix. I have court July 2nd to request a court commissioner to sign the papers for him. I would hopefully have a new truck within a week of that if they grant it. However I am not eager to make an hour 45 minute drive to visit with someone who was the maximum level of ungrateful and disrespectful to me and my home and cant even make a call to begin talking about any of it. Not to mention that he put my other children and his own sons life at risk. He has no accountability for his actions so seems like it would be a waste of my time, energy and money to make a trip at this point. He spit on me, shoved me, treated his siblings abusively anytime I enforced rules. I have other children's safety and well being to think of. He had all resources in front of him and chose not to take them while on probation, instead he did all of the above and more. So no, I dont intend for him to come back home, which I told Shella when we had our family meeting. I also informed Shella that I would need virtual therapy appointments and she said that could be arranged. I have heard nothing for these services. I have my phone on me at all times. What days are his calls? Ive attached a log of calls from the facility number. I have not heard from him since may, he calls his dads phone. I told you this when I brought you his birth certificate. I have even spoken with the medical team, so ask them that I do answer my calls. I have also had email coorespondence with them. Who approved calls with Emilia? Because I sure didn't and his dad doesn't have rights to do so. She is now an adult and he is a child. I have say on whether or not he has regular contact with her. Considering his original arrest and his placement at safe station were results of their discord in their relationship, he should not be calling her. If he wants updates on his son, I will get them for him. He has a lot to work on with the distrust and disrespect in our relationship that he should be focusing on, not chasing tail, because that's exactly what it is. They were broken up for months until the day before he got arrested. Until his dad signs trade in papers for my truck I cannot visit. It's dumping oil and antifreeze and I cannot afford the fix. I have court July 2nd to request a court commissioner to sign the papers for him. I would hopefully have a new truck within a week of that if they grant it. However I am not eager to make an hour 45 minute drive to visit with someone who was the maximum level of ungrateful and disrespectful to me and my home and cant even make a call to begin talking about any of it. Not to mention that he put my other children and his own sons life at risk. He has no accountability for his actions so seems like it would be a waste of my time, energy and money to make a trip at this point. Its been brought to my attention that the number Aiden is calling to speak with his dad is no longer in his dad's possession. Hes given it to Emilia so Aiden can call and speak with her Directly. His dad isnt even present for the calls. Calls to Emilia have not been approved by me. His dad having her over and letting her talk to him every once and awhile is one thing.
