I connected with Kyla Robbins to clarify the plan for Zane’s weekend passes and his anticipated release timeline. There was some confusion on her end about whether Zane was told he would be released early, which I confirmed was not the case. Both Michael and I have consistently informed him that early release is unlikely.
I shared that I have a plan to transition Zane home before school starts, with the possibility of weekend passes leading up to his release. After coordinating with his therapist to ensure everyone is on board, I am now ready to begin weekly passes. I also offered flexibility to accommodate Kyla’s vacation schedule.
Moving forward, I will continue to monitor Zane’s progress during these passes and maintain communication with Kyla and the treatment team to support a smooth transition and address any concerns as they arise.

I was informed that JP received a 400-point major violation for going out of bounds and passing illegal notes. Despite being given a 7-minute separation from his girlfriend after visits, he ran to meet her by the dumpster to exchange notes, which is against program rules.
I promptly notified probation officer Sandy Lucas about the incident. She has since contacted the judge to request detention for JP and is arranging for Allen County Juvenile Detention to take him into custody. The sheriff’s department will be coming to pick him up within about an hour. JP will only be allowed to keep his medications; his parents will coordinate with us to retrieve his remaining personal belongings.
I will ensure staff are aware of the timing for JP’s departure and assist with property arrangements as needed. Follow-up will include confirming his transfer and supporting his transition out of the program.

Clint provided updates on Josiah’s engagement with the treatment plan and noted some areas where additional attention might be beneficial. We agreed on strategies to enhance communication among staff and to monitor Josiah’s response to interventions more closely.
I will follow up with Clint next week to assess the effectiveness of these adjustments and to address any new developments.

I spoke with Clint Wilson regarding Julian’s recent behavior and the request from his parents to move him out of his current cottage. During lunch, Julian became upset about his girlfriend communicating with another boy and took a break outside, which seemed more about meeting with her than calming down. While outside, staff observed them talking and issued a minor behavioral consequence ("ticket"). Although the interaction itself wasn’t initially concerning, further reports of inappropriate comments from other boys in the cottage raised some red flags.
Julian and his parents want him moved to another cottage, but this poses challenges. The only available options have residents with whom Julian already has conflicts, and both cottages are full, so a move would disrupt another student’s placement. I also have concerns that Julian may be motivated by the opportunity to test limits in the cottage with more behavioral issues, rather than a genuine need for change. Staff report that Julian’s behavior in his current cottage has been excellent overall.
I will continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with staff to address the social dynamics and behavioral concerns. Follow-up will include reassessing Julian’s placement if necessary and ensuring appropriate consequences and supports are in place to maintain a positive treatment environment.

We discussed options, including having Matthew double up on assignments for one week or submitting an assignment early on 8/20 to allow for an earlier release.

I communicated with Cayla Morris regarding her concerns about Aiden’s contact and family involvement. Cayla expressed that Aiden has not made attempts to reach out to her despite previous claims, and she shared her worries about his past behaviors, including substance use and unsafe conditions at home. I acknowledged her concerns and emphasized the importance of family therapy, which can be conducted virtually, to support their relationship and Aiden’s progress.
I also discussed the permanency planning options with Cayla, seeking her input on alternatives if Aiden is not to return home after discharge. While she was uncertain about the options, I encouraged her participation in family therapy as a constructive step forward. We coordinated with probation and planned to schedule virtual family therapy sessions, with availability confirmed for the following week.
Follow-up will focus on arranging the family therapy sessions and continuing to engage Cayla in the planning process to ensure Aiden’s needs and safety are addressed.

I spoke with Julian’s parents about his current situation and the possibility of alternative placements. I was honest that acceptance into another program might be challenging and that Department of Corrections involvement could be a potential outcome. Julian’s father seemed to understand this, while his mother remains hopeful it might be a psychiatric issue. They agreed not to share these concerns with Julian at this time.
I also coordinated with Chief Probation Officer Sandy Lucas regarding Julian’s upcoming court date on June 30. She mentioned that if a placement is found before then, she will request the court’s approval to allow the move without delay. I inquired about transportation and was advised that if possible, I should bring Julian myself.
I will continue monitoring placement options and keep communication open with probation to ensure a smooth transition if a new placement is secured before court. Follow-up will focus on confirming transportation arrangements and court approvals as needed.

I reached out to the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) regarding a possible admission for Julian. After reviewing his case, they declined due to concerns about his disruptive behavior, lack of accountability, and difficulties with female staff, which would negatively impact their program environment. They also noted that his in-utero exposure may affect his behavioral regulation, making him a poor fit for their treatment model.
Given this denial, I will need to explore alternative placement options that can better address Julian’s complex needs and behavioral challenges. I will continue coordinating with probation and other providers to identify a suitable program that can manage his risk factors and support his treatment engagement.
Follow-up will focus on securing a placement that can provide the structure and therapeutic approach Julian requires, while minimizing disruption to peers and staff. I will keep the team updated as new options are explored.

I spoke with Jodi Thomas at Youth Opportunity Center regarding the potential admission of Julian. Jodi expressed significant concerns about his behavior since placement at Whites, noting that his actions have escalated and disrupted the program environment. She highlighted his difficulties with female staff, refusal to accept accountability, and repeated attempts to manipulate and instigate conflict with peers and staff. Given these challenges and his lack of investment in treatment, YOC has decided not to admit him.
I acknowledged the feedback and am considering alternative placement options that can better address Julian’s needs, especially given the impact of in-utero exposure on his regulation and behavior. I will continue to explore suitable programs that can provide the structure and support he requires.
Follow-up will focus on identifying a more appropriate placement and coordinating with probation and treatment providers to ensure continuity of care.

She also reached out to the prosecutor and his attorney and shared his information with Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) in Muncie.
I shared my concerns about J.’s challenges in placement, noting that YOC offers a secure environment with a substance abuse program, which seems appropriate given his needs. I also observed that he tends to do better when supported by a strong male staff presence, which may be important to consider for his transition.
We will continue to monitor the court process and coordinate with all parties to support J.’s placement and ensure his family is informed appropriately. I will follow up once the hearing date is set and as we receive updates from YOC.

I reviewed the recent incidents involving Julian over the past week to clarify the sequence of events and address ongoing concerns. On Thursday night, during severe weather, Julian became verbally aggressive and threatening toward staff when we moved students to the hallway for safety. His comments were inappropriate and included threats toward both direct-care and administrative staff, which led to a directive from my supervisor to place him on a three-day ERS intervention. Julian was expected to complete treatment work and maintain compliance during this period.
From Friday through Sunday, I supervised the campus and monitored Julian closely. While he needed occasional redirection, there were no major incidents or threats during that time. However, on Monday, Julian was referred to ISS for disruptive behavior at school, including making gun gestures toward peers and being disrespectful to a teacher. This resulted in his removal from class.
On Tuesday, Julian was involved in an incident where he attempted to instigate a fight between peers and then confronted one of the students himself. Staff successfully intervened before any physical altercation occurred. When the Campus Supervisor arrived, Julian was disrespectful toward staff, leading to a Major consequence for both instigating conflict and staff disrespect. Other students involved also received appropriate consequences.
I will continue to monitor Julian’s behavior closely and ensure he follows through with the ERS requirements. Further follow-up will focus on supporting him in managing peer interactions and respecting staff boundaries to prevent escalation.

Notably, his current science grade is strong at 93%, while his US History B grade is lower at 32%, though still marked as a B, which may indicate a grading or reporting discrepancy that needs clarification.
I highlighted these results to monitor his academic engagement and identify areas needing support, particularly in US History. I received reports from Julian’s school detailing two incidents of disruptive behavior. In one, Julian refused to start his work, used profanity, and left class without permission, citing a rough night. In another, he was repeatedly talking, interrupting, and made an inappropriate gesture toward the teacher despite multiple redirections and point deductions.
I reviewed these behaviors with Julian, emphasizing expectations for respectful communication and classroom participation. The school has reinforced these expectations during ISS and will continue monitoring his behavior closely. Moving forward, we will support Julian in developing coping strategies to manage frustration and address any ongoing difficulties with appropriate consequences. I will follow up to ensure consistent communication between school and residential staff to support Julian’s progress.

I connected with Clint regarding Josiah’s visit schedule and his recent behavior trends. Clint requested a visit for himself, Josh, and Jenna on Saturday from 11-1. I coordinated with Josh to confirm availability and will finalize the visit timing soon.
Clint shared observations that Josiah has mostly been receiving specials from one particular staff member, with whom he frequently clashes, though he remains respectful with others. This staff member will no longer be assigned to Josiah’s cottage starting in June, so we’ll monitor how Josiah adjusts after that change.
Josiah also submitted a request to speak with Clint about pursuing his GED, expressing motivation to attend training programs. I will follow up to support Josiah’s educational goals and ensure appropriate planning with the team.

We all agreed that he is not prepared for that level of community access at this time due to ongoing behavioral concerns and recent incidents, including cigarette and vape use, as well as boundary violations.
Given the pattern of consequences this month, I recommended scheduling another 8-hour community pass instead. I also noted that the client needs to demonstrate more consistent progress and adherence to program rules before advancing to longer passes, as ordered by the judge.
I will continue to monitor his behavior closely and communicate with the treatment team to reassess pass eligibility. Further updates will be provided as his status changes.

This month, he received only two minor consequences: one for bullying—though details were unclear and seemed minor—and one for taking an ink pen from the group room. Neither incident raises significant concern at this time.
Family therapy with Grandma is set to begin next week, and both Grandma and Mom have been consistent with visits. I asked for clarification on whether reunification is still planned with Grandma exclusively or if reunification with Mom is also being considered. Additionally, I received approval to add Taryell’s 3-year-old cousin, Armanon Glasser, to his approved visitors list.

I reviewed J. Postra’s recent behavior and disciplinary record for May, noting a pattern of consequences primarily issued by one staff member with whom he frequently clashes. While J. can be manipulative and dishonest at times, I’ve observed that he generally remains respectful with other staff, even when corrected. Since that particular staff member will no longer be assigned to my cottage starting in June, I’m interested to see if this change improves his behavior and interactions.
J. submitted a request to discuss pursuing his GED, expressing interest in attending a welding trade school. Based on his current academic standing—approximately 20 credits and on track for graduation—I advised against starting the GED track at this time. Chief Probation Officer Sandy Lucas agreed and will not approve the GED plan currently.

I also shared with Kyla that Zane and I had an honest conversation about his behavior and expectations. The staff team has now agreed that Zane has made meaningful progress, and we are ready to begin community passes to see how he manages outside the program. I explained that this stepwise approach—starting with short passes and gradually increasing to overnight—helps us monitor his adjustment and identify any additional support he may need.
I acknowledged Kyla’s concerns about passes given past challenges and reassured her that some setbacks are common as youth transition back into less structured environments. I offered to discuss any questions or concerns she has to ensure we move forward in a way that balances Zane’s progress with her comfort level. I updated Sandy Lucas on Josiah’s recent behavioral challenges, which have included disrespect, fighting, racial slurs, bullying, and possession of contraband. Despite being placed on a behavior contract, Josiah continues to struggle with taking ownership of his actions, and consequences have not yet led to meaningful change. I shared that these ongoing issues are impacting his ability to progress through the Teaching Family Model and that we recently staffed his case to recommend a review board to explore additional support strategies.
In response to Sandy’s concerns about whether Josiah might be discharged for non-compliance, I clarified that while there could come a point where his behavior is too disruptive, we are not near that threshold. Our review board focuses first on identifying causes and developing plans to help him improve rather than moving quickly to termination. I emphasized that I want to see Josiah succeed and that termination is a last resort, with only a couple of 30-day notices issued in the past year.
We will continue monitoring Josiah closely, implementing the review board’s recommendations, and maintaining open communication with probation to support his progress and address any emerging concerns.

Clinically, I expressed concerns about moving directly to overnight visits since Matthew has only completed one 3-hour pass and family therapy involvement has been limited. I recommended continuing with additional daytime passes and increasing family therapy participation before considering overnight stays. I asked Alissa to clarify the visitation schedule and progression so we can align expectations and communicate clearly with the family and any potential transportation providers.

I reached out to Jonathan regarding missing documents in Taryell’s file, specifically his birth certificate, court order for placement, and DCS IYAS paperwork. Since I was on PTO during his admission, I hadn’t followed up to ensure all documents were collected and uploaded.
Jonathan informed me that the court order is still pending and can take some time to be completed. He also noted that birth certificates are not provided by their office and will need to be obtained from Taryell’s mother. I will coordinate with her to secure the birth certificate and continue monitoring the status of the court order.
I will follow up as needed to ensure all required documentation is received and properly filed.

I reached out to Michael regarding missing documentation in Zane’s file, specifically his birth certificate, court order for placement, and DCS IYAS paperwork. I acknowledged that these items were likely overlooked during the case transition and asked for assistance in obtaining the necessary documents. I also proposed scheduling a time to discuss Zane’s case further.
Michael responded promptly, providing the court orders and IYAS documentation but noted that Zane’s mother has not yet submitted his birth certificate. He shared his availability for a meeting later in the week and inquired if there were any new concerns about Zane beyond what had already been discussed.
I will follow up to coordinate a meeting time that works for both of us and continue efforts to obtain the birth certificate from Zane’s mother. Further discussion will focus on any updates or additional needs related to Zane’s care.

I communicated with Kyla and Michael regarding Zane’s recent community passes and concerns about his possession of cigarettes and a vape during visits.
After reviewing the incidents, I expressed that neither Michael nor I feel comfortable approving an overnight pass at this time. I offered to approve another community pass this weekend for up to 8 hours to assess Zane’s accountability and decision-making before considering overnight privileges.
Michael agreed with this cautious approach, emphasizing the importance of family involvement during visits to better monitor Zane’s environment. Kyla acknowledged the concerns and agreed with the plan moving forward.
We will continue to monitor Zane’s progress closely during the upcoming community pass and reassess readiness for overnight passes based on his demonstrated responsibility.

I followed up on Kameron’s aftercare plans, specifically regarding his education and therapy needs. Kaylee requested a referral for therapy and medication management at Turning Leaf in Sullivan, and she expressed concerns about Kameron returning to school this year due to limited days left. Instead, she proposed exploring job opportunities for him, with plans to return to school next year if agreed upon.
Jennifer shared concerns about Kameron’s motivation and the practicality of his current education plan, noting potential issues with transportation and his inconsistent engagement. She worries that Kameron may revert to old habits once home, despite recent improvements.
I also addressed a failed nicotine screen, which Kaylee reported Kameron is trying to rationalize. She expressed disappointment and concern about his deflective behavior and potential self-destructive patterns. Jennifer recommended extending Kameron’s stay past his court hearing, fearing he may feel invincible and disregard consequences. I agree with this approach and typically would implement a one-week treatment pause and loss of pass as part of the response.
We will continue to monitor Kameron closely, coordinate with Kaylee and Jennifer, and adjust aftercare plans to support his sustained progress and address ongoing risks.

Despite some negative attitudes toward staff, Julian is generally acclimating to the program.
I clarified that Mike Worthington will transport Julian to court, but the sheriff’s department will handle the transport as requested by Julian’s attorney, which works better for scheduling. I confirmed this arrangement with Sandy to avoid any confusion.

Sandy advised that the judge is unlikely to approve the GED option without a formal request from Julian’s attorney at the upcoming court hearing. She emphasized that parent or guardian approval alone is insufficient for this change.

I confirmed that all scheduled passes and visits have been addressed prior to my absence. Mike Worthington will be covering my caseload, and I encouraged staff to contact him or the Campus Supervisor for urgent needs, copying me on email correspondence when possible.
I will follow up upon my return to ensure continuity of care and address any outstanding issues.

I informed Mike about an incident where Jackson was found using a vape device in the cottage. As a result, I placed Jackson on a one-week grounding, which includes loss of privileges such as personal snacks, earlier room time, television, and video games.
Mike inquired whether this grounding would affect Jackson’s scheduled 8-hour pass, and I clarified that his pass remains unaffected. There was some initial confusion on my part regarding a positive THC test for Zane, but I corrected the information and confirmed no additional restrictions apply to Jackson.
I also confirmed that Mitchell is scheduled to pick up Jackson for his pass on Sunday at 9 am. I will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any further updates as needed.

I discussed KL’s recent behavioral concerns with Jennifer, noting his disregard for boundaries and refusal to comply with room time and medication pass protocols. Jennifer expressed frustration, highlighting KL’s intention to resume nicotine use upon release and emphasizing the need for clear consequences, including restricting his next pass and delaying his release date.
I initially planned to pause KL’s treatment work for a week to address his attitude shift. However, after consulting with staff who indicated that KL’s behavior was uncharacteristic, I proposed allowing the upcoming pass with strict conditions, including nicotine testing upon return and clear communication that any rule violations would result in a pause and delayed release.
Jennifer agreed to this approach, and we will monitor KL closely to ensure compliance and address any further issues promptly.

I informed Alissa about Matthew’s recent drug screen, which came back positive for THC at low levels. Matthew denies use, and the only possible opportunity was during his last pass with his dad. I reviewed his past screens and noted some inconsistencies in lab confirmations.
Matthew was placed on a pause and given a three-day consequence. I plan to speak with him this afternoon and offered Alissa the option to join via Zoom or phone. I also intend to complete his SPaM meeting then, despite scheduling challenges due to staff availability and my upcoming leave.
Alissa is supportive of the consequences and will join the meeting as needed. I will continue to monitor Matthew’s progress and coordinate follow-up accordingly.

I committed to obtaining the results and updating Morgan promptly. After returning from court, I continued coordinating with Morgan to confirm the screening details and results, ensuring clear communication and planning for any necessary follow-up.

I communicated with Heather about Noble’s recent positive THC test and the concerning self-inflicted cuts he showed after returning from a pass. Noble has expressed mixed feelings about going home, and there are safety concerns regarding his home environment, including observations from my driver about his mother’s possible impairment.
Heather and I agreed that sending Noble home is not safe at this time, and she is exploring options for a higher level of care, though placement acceptance remains uncertain. Noble’s progress here has stalled, so we need to develop a clear plan moving forward.
I remain available to discuss next steps despite upcoming limited availability, and I will continue coordinating closely with Heather as we seek the best support for Noble.

I informed Heather about the upcoming SPaM meetings scheduled for April 22nd and offered to coordinate participation. Heather inquired about the purpose, duration, and timing of these meetings.
I explained that SPaM meetings are brief check-ins with the youth to assess their needs, gather feedback, and share staff observations. These meetings typically last less than five minutes and are usually held between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., though the order can vary.
I will continue to coordinate these meetings and ensure staff have the opportunity to provide input or participate as needed.

Based on another student’s report, I suspect Zane brought the vape back onto campus after an off-campus pass, though I have not confirmed this and have withheld sharing these suspicions with Kyla to avoid speculation.
Michael Patterson confirmed similar concerns at school, noting Zane was caught hiding and using vapes and possibly tampering with drug tests. We agreed to withhold this information from Zane’s mother for now, given the sensitive nature of the situation.
I implemented a one-week cottage-wide grounding to address the behavior and will continue monitoring Zane closely, coordinating with probation and school staff as needed to support his treatment and safety.

I updated Kaylee on Kameron’s recent behavior, noting he received an SC1-1 for being out of bounds but accepted the consequence and ended the evening positively. I also informed her about Kameron’s upcoming 48-hour pass this weekend and the start of 72-hour passes on 4/30.
Kaylee expressed concerns about transportation due to her car’s unreliability and her boyfriend’s vehicle being out of commission. I shared that currently, two other kids are scheduled to travel to Evansville, implying potential coordination for transportation.
Kaylee indicated she will make arrangements to manage despite the challenges. I will continue to monitor transportation needs and coordinate as necessary to support Kameron’s passes.

I provided an update on Taryell’s recent behavior and overall adjustment. Over the weekend, he had two minor incidents involving being out of bounds and drinking apple juice reserved for supper, resulting in SC1-1 consequences. Despite these, he has been doing fairly well overall.
To support his balance, we adjusted his schedule so he attends school for half the day and works in the cafeteria the other half, preventing him from getting too far ahead academically. I also confirmed the upcoming visit on the 25th with his mom as previously discussed.
I remain available for any further questions or check-ins regarding Taryell’s progress and support needs.

I provided an update on Taryell’s recent behavior and academic adjustments. Over the weekend, he received two SC1-1s—one for being out of bounds after speaking with girls outside, and another for drinking a bottle of apple juice set aside for supper.
To better support his academic progress, we adjusted his schedule to half days in school with the remainder of his time working in the cafeteria, aiming to pace his learning and prevent him from advancing too quickly.
I also confirmed that Mike Worthington will transport Taryell to court on the 27th, and I will prepare a full report to share the week before. I invited input on any specific information that should be included in that report.

I reached out to Michael Patterson regarding Zane’s attempt to make a phone call, as I was concerned it might have been overlooked by staff during a meeting. Michael confirmed that Zane had not called yet.
I explained that I would be pulling Zane from school early for his stage-up meeting this afternoon, which aligns with when I finish supervision, and planned to call Michael around 2:30 PM. Michael was understanding and assured me that the timing was fine.
I will follow up after the call to ensure communication is completed and address any further needs.

I updated Allen on Jeremy’s remaining pass schedule and shared details about his recent Chicago trip. While the trip itself went well, there were transportation issues beyond Jeremy’s control. His return was delayed significantly due to coordination challenges, resulting in him arriving late and feeling too tired to attend work the next day.
Jeremy was also removed from school for non-compliance and incomplete work, receiving an SC1-1 sanction without resistance. On a positive note, he passed his drug screen. Allen expressed concern about the transportation situation, and I clarified the circumstances, which he understood.
I will continue to monitor Jeremy’s engagement with school and work, and ensure smoother transportation arrangements for upcoming passes. Further follow-up will focus on addressing the school incident and supporting his compliance.

I followed up on Zane’s recent three-hour off-campus pass after receiving a report from Kyla indicating that he became upset when his grandparents refused to give him a cigarette. I have not yet spoken with Zane about the incident, and I am aware that his therapist has also been involved, though I respect confidentiality around those details.
Michael shared that in his conversation with Zane’s mother, she did not mention the cigarette incident or describe Zane as having “went crazy.” She also expressed that she did not believe off-campus visits were necessary at this time.
I will continue to monitor the situation and plan to discuss the incident directly with Zane to better understand his perspective and determine appropriate next steps. Coordination with probation and family will remain a priority.

I communicated with Kyla regarding Zane’s overall progress and behavior. Zane is generally meeting expectations, though I addressed concerns about his tendency to be handsy with peers, which led me to implement a boundary contract to reinforce appropriate personal space.
We discussed Zane’s upcoming off-campus privileges, clarifying that his next outing would be for one hour rather than three. Kyla inquired about bringing Easter treats for Zane, which I approved.
Later, Kyla reported a challenging incident during an outing where Zane became upset after being denied a cigarette by her parents. I will continue to monitor his behavior closely and coordinate with Kyla to support positive interactions and boundary adherence.

I acknowledged these concerns and will follow up with Kyla directly to address them. We also agreed to pause off-campus visits for now due to these behavioral concerns.

Kaylee requested transportation assistance due to her car being in the shop and adjusted her work hours to maximize time with Kameron. I initially struggled to secure transport for Kameron’s return on Sunday because of the holiday but communicated the challenge to Kaylee.
Kaylee agreed to bring Kameron back herself and requested he stay as late as possible on Sunday to attend Easter dinner with the family. We agreed on a return time between 7-8 pm to allow for family time and travel. Later, I was able to arrange transportation for Kameron’s return, which Kaylee appreciated.
I will continue to monitor transportation logistics and support family visit coordination to ensure Kameron’s needs and family connections are prioritized.
