AI Summary

New
I connected with Michael Patterson, the juvenile probation officer, about the youth’s current emotional state and interests. Michael shared a personal reflection on a piece of music that resonates with the youth’s experience of masking pain and persevering through hardship. He expressed that this kind of music helps him relate and stay motivated, especially during challenging times. I acknowledged his insight and encouraged continued use of positive outlets like music to support emotional expression and resilience. We agreed that incorporating these interests into the youth’s treatment plan could be beneficial. I will follow up to see how the youth responds to this approach and coordinate with Michael on any additional support needed.

What originally started as just a small music project slowly turned into something much deeper, including a memoir-style book that I am currently writing alongside the album. Right now I am only four chapters into the book, and only a couple people currently have access to read it. One thing I always tell people is not to judge the entire project from the first song on the album, “No Brakes.” It comes in loud, chaotic, and messy on purpose because that was honestly what my life felt like during that period. The rest of the project becomes much more reflective and story-driven as it progresses. A lot of the lyrics use metaphor and layered meanings tied to real experiences, addiction, recovery, family struggles, and personal growth. I can relate to this. This is that music that doesn't hold back and talks about the pain inside that creates that man or person that people don't see from the inside. I like to use the happy and sad face from cinema that person who can smile when all hell is breaking loose then cry when they are home alone. The one that never gave up and no matter how bad it was, continued to rise. Boss, I'm gonna listen to this in the gym this weekend. I love finding new music like this that I can relate to and resonates with me.

Thank you. There are so many little hidden layers and references in those songs that most people probably will not catch right away.

You’re from my generation though, so I figured you’d pick up on at least some of them.

This part, for example, was about the Challenger explosion and how surreal it felt watching it happen in school. The teacher wheels the TV into the classroom, everyone watches something horrific unfold live, and then somehow the day is just supposed to continue like nothing happened.

“TV rolling in the classroom light
Challenger falling from the sky that night
Everyone froze, I just stared ahead
Something cracked but nothing was said”

I’m really glad you liked it. That whole project represents several months of work, memories, rewrites, and probably a little lost sanity somewhere along the way. Feel free to share it with anyone you want. I do not share this one very often because the chorus ended up more explicit than I originally intended, but it was the most honest way I knew how to write it at the time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ErwHhPWRIs

The second project is the much larger one called Red Dirt to Redemption.

My favorite book has always been The Catcher in the Rye, so that style of honest and conversational storytelling heavily influenced the writing style of the book as well.

All of the music is also available on most major streaming platforms if you would rather listen there instead of through the site.

The website itself is still very new — I actually just built it last week — so if you happen to notice any broken links, errors, or issues, feel free to let me know. I am still going through and refining things, and a few pages are currently just placeholders while I continue building everything out.

I never really intended for any of this to become as large as it has. It started as a personal creative outlet and slowly evolved into something bigger. If nothing else, I just hope maybe some part of it connects with people or helps somebody think differently about where they are headed in life.

If you have any questions about any of the songs, lyrics, or stories behind them, feel free to ask.

https://reddirtredemption.com/

Every line in both songs are 100% factual, nothing made up and nothing really exaggerated either.
