AI Summary

New
I spoke with Michael Patterson, the juvenile probation officer, regarding concerns about sexual misconduct violations related to the youth in our care. He expressed significant worry and requested specific details about the nature of these violations. I provided a clear summary of the incidents documented, emphasizing the behaviors observed and the steps we have taken to address them within the program. I reassured him that we are closely monitoring the youth and implementing appropriate interventions to ensure safety and compliance with facility policies. We agreed to maintain open communication, and I will update him promptly on any new developments or changes in the youth’s status. Follow-up will focus on coordinating support and ensuring all parties are informed for upcoming court proceedings.

Hello, I will defer to you being the caseworker, but I'm not sure about a 24-hour pass for Zane. Just a few weeks ago mother was not even wanting to take him for a few hours and now she wants a 24-hour pass. That is odd to me. How has Zane been in the last week or so?
I personally do not think he is ready after I looked at his case a little closer and talked to his therapist.

The sexual misconduct consequences, while technically appropriate consequences, were not as severe as the wording “sexual misconduct” may initially sound. One incident involved him telling staff to “suck his XXX,” and the other involved him telling a peer to “sniff everyone’s penises to figure out whose urine was on the floor.” Personally, I likely would have written the first up as disrespect to staff and possibly bullying or inappropriate comments on the second.

We currently have an ongoing issue with someone intentionally urinating on the bathroom floor and, last night, in the laundry room trash can. A couple peers have been trying to place the blame on Zane, but honestly I do not believe it is him. My impression is that he has become an easy target for suspicion in this particular situation. Given that context, I assume the comment about identifying the urine came from frustration surrounding the accusations and ongoing conversations among peers.

What is your availability this afternoon to potentially do a quick Zoom call with him so we can process some of this and see what we can figure out? We could also complete the SPAM at the same time and hopefully knock out two birds with one stone

On Tue, May 19, 2026 at 7:37 AM Michael Patterson <michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov> I have mixed feelings about it. Part of me wants to give him the opportunity to demonstrate that he can manage the expectations and responsibilities appropriately, but the more I reflect on it, the more I question whether he is truly ready at this point.

I’m not sure if I previously communicated with you regarding his recent consequences, but I have attached the list of consequences for May. Unfortunately, I do not immediately recall the specific details surrounding the sexual misconduct incidents and related concerns. I can go back through my emails to track that information down, as it should all be documented there. I do also want to note that at least the last three consequences were written by the same staff member, who, in my opinion, can sometimes be overly zealous in their approach.

His mother has also been emailing me asking about the possibility of a home pass. In addition, I have reached out to his therapist to get further insight into how family therapy and related services have been progressing so I can have a more complete picture before making recommendations.

On another note, I am going to have to adjust SPaM again this month. I had a youth scheduled to discharge on Wednesday, but due to a scheduling conflict involving First Aid, he is now unable to leave until Thursday. Since his mother works that day, I will be transporting him down to Greene County myself.

<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" dir="ltr" border="1" style="table-layout: fixed; The sexual misconduct consequences, while technically appropriate consequences, were not as severe as the wording “sexual misconduct” may initially sound. We could also complete the SPAM at the same time and hopefully knock out two birds with one stone On Tue, May 19, 2026 at 7:37 AM Michael Patterson <michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov> wrote: What exactly are the sexual misconduct violations? I have mixed feelings about it. 5/5 2-3 nbullying/slur 5/6 2-3 sexual misconduct 5/6 1-1 inappropriate meal behavior 5/6 1-1 staff disrespect 5/8 2-3 sexual misconduct broke contracts 5/9 1-1 out of bounds 5/10 2-3 sexual misconduct/boundary viol 5/15 1-1 unapproved items 5/15 1-1 Follows Instructions -- Clint Wilson, MA, MSW, LSW | Residential Supervisor Cottage 10 Josiah White’s | Residential Services 260-563-1158 260-563-1159 x2205 [Whites-logo-full-color@2x.png] [https://url.usb.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/27enC6YlRVto3EOFpfrU5pOGI?domain=ci3.googleusercontent.com] An accredited agency of the Teaching Family Association The information transmitted, including attachments, is intended only for the person(s) or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material. I have mixed feelings about it.

We could also complete the SPAM at the same time and hopefully knock out two birds with one stone On Tue, May 19, 2026 at 7:37 AM Michael Patterson <michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov<mailto:michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov>> wrote: What exactly are the sexual misconduct violations? I have mixed feelings about it. We could also complete the SPAM at the same time and hopefully knock out two birds with one stone On Tue, May 19, 2026 at 7:37 AM Michael Patterson <michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov<mailto:michael.patterson@jeffersoncounty.in.gov>> wrote: What exactly are the sexual misconduct violations? I have mixed feelings about it. 5/5 2-3 nbullying/slur 5/6 2-3 sexual misconduct 5/6 1-1 inappropriate meal behavior 5/6 1-1 staff disrespect 5/8 2-3 sexual misconduct broke contracts 5/9 1-1 out of bounds 5/10 2-3 sexual misconduct/boundary viol 5/15 1-1 unapproved items 5/15 1-1 Follows Instructions -- Clint Wilson, MA, MSW, LSW | Residential Supervisor Cottage 10 Josiah White’s | Residential Services 260-563-1158 260-563-1159 x2205 [Whites-logo-full-color@2x.png] [https://url.usb.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/aDmOC4WjRKTJLl6iOf7U40y7D?domain=ci3.googleusercontent.com] An accredited agency of the Teaching Family Association The information transmitted, including attachments, is intended only for the person(s) or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
